Kempo Jiu Jitsu classes combine the arts of Kempo with traditional Japanese and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu into a seamless fighting art. There is a focus on self-defense applications through striking, throwing, grappling, joint locks, submissions and pressure point attacks. Kids Kempo Jiu Jitsu Classes
Ages 5-16
Tuesdays & Thursdays
5:00 pm to 6:00 pm
Kids Kempo Jiu Jitsu Classes are split into 2 groups:
Little Dragons: Ages 5-12
Fighting Tigers: 13-17
Kids in both groups will learn hand strikes, kicks, blocks and grappling: both on the ground and standing. Through disciplined practice and games, kids will grow in strength while learning:
balance, patience, listening skills, self control, self confidence, physical dexterity.
Adult Kempo Jiu Jitsu classes will alternate between Kempo and Jiu Jitsu; this includes self defense techniques, hand strikes, kicks, blocks, stand up sparring, rolls and ground grappling.
As you progress into intermediate levels, throws, break falls, ground submissions and standing joint locks will be introduced. In the advanced levels, weapon forms, applications and defense against weapons, as well as more advanced sparring and ground techniques will be part of the instruction.
Adult Kempo Jiu Jitsu Classes
Ages 16 & Above
Tuesdays & Thursdays 6:15 pm to 7:30 pm
Equipment Needed:
For the first month, students may wear comfortable workout clothing, preferably workout pants and a t-shirt. Please avoid wearing jewelry, strong perfumes or cologne. (Valuables can be placed in the cubbies near the training mat.)
After the first month, the following gear is required: White Tiger Dojo shirt, white dogi (uniform), mouth piece, athletic supporter cup (for men; for women a groin cup is recommended but not required).
At purple belt and above, a Black Dogi (uniform) will be required.
